It is interesting that 1 Corinthians 13 is between 12 and 14 that deal with supernatural prayer and supernatural gifts of the Spirit in the church. Also those two chapters are about the four kinds of ministries in the church of Jesus Christ. You should read the three chapters. It is not enough to hear preachers. Each one has to read the Bible, the New Testament in particular. It has to be read over and over and over again. In the church of Jesus Christ we are to show love. If we help in the church, whatever we do, all has to be in love. Here are the first three verses in English :
If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am become sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal.
And if I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
And if I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.
The first verse in ch.13 is about prayer with the tongues of men and of angels. The next about the gift of prophecy, from the Holy Spirit. Then comes knowing everything we could know about Spiritual things. Faith is a gift of the Holy Spirit. The apostle then speaks of showing charity – giving everything to the poor.
All is useless to us personally if not done in love.

Those who believe in Jesus have some of His love working in them.
John shows us how important love is. In English –
God’s love has reached its goal in us. So we look ahead with confidence to the day of judgment. because even as He is, we also are in this world;
No fear exists where his love is. Rather, perfect love gets rid of fear, because fear involves punishment. The person who lives in fear doesn’t have perfect love.
We love because God loved us first.   1 John 4:17-19
“As He is so are we in this world”, v.18 above.  He in heaven is full of love. We also on earth have some of that love in us.
Do not think you do not have some of His love. This verse shows us you have – “the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us” Romans 5:5.
We are not love. Only God is love. He is full of love. We are not full of love. We have some of that love. He poured some of it into our hearts. That was when we believed in Jesus Christ. It is His Divine love. Do not think we are the same as Jesus. We can never be the same as Jesus is. He is God. He has an eternal nature. He has a divine nature. Our nature is not eternal. It is not divine. However, He has put in us, eternal life. Believers have eternal life. We share in His Divine nature through the promises of the Bible. We just have a share. We do not have real Divine nature. We could not create the world!  “As He is in this world, so are we” has to do with 1 John chapter 3 and ch.4:1-17. Look at v.16: “God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him”. This verse declares what God is. He is love. We are not love. We abide in love and thus abide in God.

This verse “As He is so are we in this world” shows therefore not that in this world we have that Divine nature. this I heard, used by Prince as such. God’s nature is love.   As we “abide in that love”, this proves we do not have the Divine nature as say all the followers of Hagin and Kenyon. We can never understand one verse in the Bible fully, without looking at all that came before and even what comes afterwards many times. When we do this here, it is obvious that John is speaking about practice. It is the practicing of righteousness and of love. It is really to put on the new nature that is created after God in righteousness” Ephesians 4:24.. It is explained better in Colossians 3:9 “renewed in knowledge after “the image” of him that created him.”

This can never mean that we are given the Divine nature. That nature is impossible to have created. God always was, is and always will be. He is eternal and was never created. He is the Creator. We are His creatures, created by Him physically, as “living souls (not spirits)” to live in this world He created. Adam fell into sin. We who believe in Christ have been created within, as a new creature in Christ Jesus. Christ Jesus always was God, always is God and always will be God. He is Creator. As new creatures, we are created by Him. God has created this new man to be in Christ.
